Finished the 6 month Pranayama foundation course the other week. It’s been a progressive self-development course, covering the mechanics of breath, the rhythms –
(E.g. breathing in for a count of 4, holding for 16, breathing out for 8, holding for 4…Gasp! Only not gasping, because we built up to it over the course of several months…)
Plus practising the classic breathing exercises of nadi shodan (alternate nostril breathing), ujjayi (the ocean breath or psychic breath) and brahmari (bee breath), along with the bandhas (physical locks) that really stoke the internal energy of all the different practices.
